A well run project is a calm project.

Great craftsmanship matters, and you should expect it from any contractor. What makes the experience of building work good or stressful is how it is planned, priced and managed.

Over the years we have developed systems and processes that take the uncertainty out of building work. This page explains how we work, step by step, so you know exactly what to expect.

A proper welcome

We start by listening. We want to understand how you live, what you want your home to do for you and what matters most, whether that is space, light, budget or minimal disruption. There is no pressure and no obligation. It is simply a chance to talk through your ideas and for you to get a feel for how we work.

A ballpark estimate

Before you spend money on detailed design, you will want to know whether the project is realistic. We give you an honest early estimate based on our experience of similar projects, along with what could move the figure up or down. That way you can make decisions early, with your eyes open.

A fixed cost

Once your design and specification are defined, we provide a fixed cost for the work. We’re open and transparent about pricing, keep you informed of any variations before work starts, and only invoice for work that’s been completed and signed off by Building Control. The aim is simple: no surprises.

A phased budget

Dividing the budget into construction phases, such as groundworks, structure, and finishes, turns one figure into something you can follow and plan around. It also allows us to track spend against each phase as the work progresses, so any pressure on the budget is spotted early and discussed with you while there is still time to make informed choices.

Building with care

This is where our systems earn their keep. Throughout the build you can expect:

  • ​A single point of contact who knows your project inside out

  • A clear programme, with updates on progress and what is coming next

  • Careful protection of your home and your daily life while work is under way

  • Honest, early communication if anything changes, with options and a recommendation

  • Quality checks at key stages, not just at the end

Handover and beyond

We walk you through the finished work, deal with any final details and make sure you know how to look after your new space. We want you to enjoy it, and to feel that the experience was as good as the result.
